Question:

ENTRY SUBMISSION AND LABELING?

Answer:

Two UNMOUNTED copies of each entry are necessary for submission. You MUST also include a pdf of all pieces being entered into the competition, on disk, at the time of entry. All entries MUST INCLUDE PROOF OF PRODUCTION.

We recommend submitting your entries in clear plastic envelopes. However, you may use any number of commercially-available paper envelopes. If you do use paper envelopes, we suggest using one with a clasp closure system, NOT an adhesive closure, as your entry will be opened and closed many times during judging.

CLEAR ENVELOPES - Simply place one loose copy of the entry label inside the envelope along with the entry. Trim out smaller entry label and affix to back in the upper right corner of actual entry. Place remaining entry labels into clear envelope.

MANILLA ENVELOPES - Print two copies of the entry label and affix the larger label to the exterior of the envelope and the smaller label to the back of the piece itself. The other copy of the entry label is to be placed inside the envelope along with the entry.

For more detailed information, please refer to the Rules & Guidelines, where you will also find examples of properly produced entries.

Question:

SHIPMENT OF ENTRIES?

Answer:All entries become the property of your AAF Triad, AAF District Three, or the AAF and WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Do NOT send original or irreplaceable artwork.

Question:

HOW DO I PREPARE MY PDF?

Answer:All printed entries will need to include a PDF on a disk placed inside the envelope. NOTE: Your PDF will need to look how you will want your entry to look in the ADDY presentation at the awards Gala and in the local and district winner’s books. Please handwrite the entrants name, title of the piece, entry number and category on the CD. All PDF's must be compatible with Acrobat Reader 6.0 or higher. The pdf’s provided will NOT affect how your entry is judged.

Question:

HOW DO I ENTER MY INTERACTIVE PIECE?

Answer:The best way to enter an interactive piece**, radio or TV spot is via CD or DVD. Remember, we are no longer accepting tapes of any kind. All radio MUST be on CD. All TV MUST be on DVD. No exceptions. The DVD must be playable on a consumer DVD player. If it has a single spot it should auto play. If there are multiple spots it MUST include a DVD navigation system that allows each spot to be played individually. A QuickTime movie burned onto a DVD is NOT acceptable.

On the CD or DVD, please hand write the title, entry number and category provided on the entry form. Include a copy of the large entry label in the CD sleeve and permanently affix the small entry label to the outside of the sleeve. NEVER AFFIX a label to a CD /DVD.

**IMPORTANT: When entering a website, it is critical to include a screen capture of the front page of the site so that the ADDY committee and judges can be sure they are reviewing the correct site. The CD copy of the site is a last resort and will only be used if the URL is down, there are server issues, or other Internet access problems arise. This ensures that the judges will be able to see at least some parts of the site no matter what happens. Database driven websites need only supply URL.

Question:

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I'M UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT CATEGORY
FOR MY ENTRY?

Answer:

Don't worry. Your piece will not be thrown out if it is entered in the wrong category. Enter your piece in the category that you think it best fits in. Bring it to someone's attention at Call for Entries. If necessary, your piece will be moved to the
correct category.

Question:

WHAT DOES AUTO-FORWARD MEAN?

Answer:

The AAF has adopted an auto-forwarding procedure for the ADDY® Awards that allows for a one-time entry fee at the local level for winning entries to progress to the national ADDY® Awards Competition. All entrants must enter their local ADDY® Awards Competitions to be eligible for further competition.

Should an entry win a gold ADDY®, it will be automatically forwarded to the district competition by the local AAF Triad ADDY® Awards committee or chair. Should the entry win again at district level, the committee or chair will forward the entry to the national competition with no additional fees. This eliminates the cumbersome steps of the local entrant resubmitting work and entry forms.

If your work wins a silver ADDY® and you have chosen Auto-forwarding, your work will be forwarded to the next level and you will be sent an invoice to pay the entry fees. If you did not select to Auto-Forward, you will be given the opportunity to forward your work to the district level and pay the entry fees.

Question:

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO FORWARD MY SILVER ADDY?

Answer:Work that has won a gold ADDY® is forwarded at the cost of the local club. The forwarding fee for a silver ADDY® is $100 to District. Winning District silver’s are subject to an additional fee to be forwarded to national. Please note that winning
a silver at any level does not mean that it is ineligible for a gold or better at the
next level.
